The last match in Goup A of the ACC Under 19 Women’s Championship at Prem Centre saw the girls from UAE gain a convincing victory over Oman by 73 runs and the star of the day was Natasha Cherriath.
She became the third player to reach the fifty mark in the tournament, after Siobhan Gomez of Kuwait and Vigneshwari Pasupathy of Singapore, hitting seven fours in her unbeaten 52 from 56 balls as UAE reached a total of 133 for two, the second best of the competition. Natasha is also now the leading run-scorer in the tournament with 111 runs.
Openers Sneha Sankar and Monique D’Souza provided a partnership of 49 and Charvi Butt helped her add 75 for the third wicket so it was an exceptional batting performance by UAE.
By contrast Oman could only manage a total of 60, Hager Ali top scoring with just 7, Monique D’Souza taking 3 for 10. But despite their efforts in this match to gain their second win of the competition UAE finished fourth in group A behind Qatar on net run-rate.
UAE now play Singapore in the play-off for seventh and eight while Oman play Kuwait in the play-off for ninth and tenth.
